On Tuesday, November 18th, ProctorFree was lucky (and very thankful) to get the opportunity to pitch at the Capital Connects event in Greensboro, NC. The event brought out some of North Carolina’s most interesting entrepreneurial ventures. It was nice to see friendly and familiar faces from BaceTrace and SnapYeti. We also made some new friends in EmailGrouper and PlumPrint.
Overall the evening was a fantastic experience. Troy Knauss, member of the Greensboro Partnership Entrepreneur Connection Advisory Board, started off with an update on investment funding for start-ups in the country over the past year and how North Carolina compares by industry to national averages.
ProctorFree was the 8th company to pitch, and we enjoyed listening to the other businesses talk about the problems they were solving and their growth. After a short wait and voting period we found out that ProctorFree was selected as the overall winner of the event.
We’re grateful to Joel Bennett, Interim Program Manager for the Greensboro Partnership Entrepreneur Connection, and Capital Connects for the opportunity to participate. We also enjoyed meeting great people, like Greg Chabon from Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, LLP, a sponsor of the event.
We look forward to continuing to be a good steward of the North Carolina start-up community.
The Capital Connects event, a Greensboro, N.C. Partnership Entrepreneur Connections signature event, focuses on educating investors and connecting them with entrepreneurs looking for funding. The event, in its 10th year, exposes entrepreneurial ventures to local funding sources to span the breadth and depth of North Carolina’s entrepreneurial talent. The organizations competing range from first round college/university start-ups to existing companies seeking expansion capital.
